The Southend West MP attended St Peter’s Church on Sunday 26th March to present local church the Bronze Eco Church Award by ‘A Rocha UK’.
The award presented by Anna Firth, is a reflection the hard work St Peter’s and the Rev. Colin Baldwin have pursued as part of the growing movement that recognise the importance of caring for our planet. The award is presented to the church for its Work on the Environment and Reducing their Carbon Footprint.
As a keen environmentalist Anna Firth praised the church for its work and will continue to support their progression. The event consisted of a service at the church followed by the unveiling of the bronze award where Anna was able to speak to the winners on their award.
Anna Firth has also recently supported initiatives such as #EarthHourUK, enforcing her commitment to recognising positive changes towards the environment.
Anna said,
‘I am delighted to present this award to such a poignant pillar in this community, the work they do for the environments and support to all faiths should not go unrecognised’.
‘Churches bring about positive change for the community that is not appreciated regularly by the wider community; therefore, I am glad to see St Peter’s efforts awarded’.
