Anna Firth MP attended the Love Southend Network Event on March the 12th at St. Michael’s Church to discuss her vision for the city and the powerful role of faith groups in supporting the community of Southend.
Love Southend is a registered charity which provides a forum for the multiple Christian groups in Southend, led by local church leaders.
During the evening, a beautiful piece of artwork called ‘City of Light’ by Helen Yousaf (commissioned by Love Southend) was presented to Anna.
The picture is of brightly coloured images of people bringing light and colour to their world, acting as a moving tribute to Sir David Amess and an express of the prayers made for him following his passing.
Anna said,
“It was an absolute honour to attend the Love Southend Network Event, sharing my vision for Southend and the limitless opportunity for our city.”
“The painting I was presented with is fantastic. Helen Yousaf has done an absolutely incredible job and I look forward to seeing it up at Iveagh Hall as a fitting tribute to my amazing predecessor.”
Love Southend said,
“It was a privilege to hear from Anna Firth, sharing her aspirations for our city, some of the encouragements and challenges of her work as an MP, and her desire to build on the ‘incredible roadmap’ to being a constituency MP left by her predecessor Sir David Amess.”
