The Southend West MP has backed calls to improve kidney health, diagnostic and testing across the country at a major event in Parliament.
On Wednesday 8th March the National Kidney Federation (NKF) was in Westminster to highlight opportunities to MPs and for the NHS to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney disease.
The event was held to celebrate World Kidney Day which took place on Thursday 9th March 2023 and to emphasise the importance of early diagnosis. The event was supported by AstraZeneca, Fresenius Medical Care and Healthy.io.
To provide an insight into living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and those who need dialysis, multiple testing facilities were on site including a blood pressure machine with Anna used as an indicator of her health.
Anna said,
“This is a really important cause, with Chronic Kidney Disease affecting 3.5 million people in the UK and costing the NHS more than a billion per year”
“I was delighted to attend the event, get an indicator of how my kidney’s are doing, and back the call for change.”
Andrea Brown, Chief of Exec of NKF, said,
“I would also like to thank Anna for taking the time to come to our event and showing her passion for the cause. The day was a great success, we shall continue to support those affected by kidney disease, as well as raising further awareness,”
