The Southend West MP has been speaking with local businesses to better understand the Government support they need to thrive ahead of the Spring Budget, which will be presented by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the 15th of March 2023.
The budget will be based on the four ‘E’ pillars of Enterprise, Education, Employment and Everywhere, with a particular anticipated focus on business taxes and a long-term plan for prosperity following Covid and the war in Ukraine.
Visiting Affinity Group Mortgages and Doris Jones Limited in Westcliff, Anna was delighted to see how these businesses have contributed to the local economy and shown an incredible amount of resilience during difficult periods.
Affinity Group mortgages provides specialist advise and assistance on mortgages, insurance, and personal finances. Doris Jones Limited provides personal care to local people in Southend, delivering on a key message of trust and reliability.
As part of her plan to unlock the city’s potential full of economy opportunity for all, Anna has been asking these local businesses what they would like to see included in the Spring Budget and will be relaying their comments directly to the Chancellor.
Anna said,
“It’s been so great to talk with business and employees about what matters to them and what they would like to see in the Chancellor’s first Spring Budget.”
“Affinity and Doris Jones are just the tip of the iceberg for our thousands of amazing businesses in Southend, but it was so wonderful to see them in action and thank them for their contribution not only to our local economy, but also the community.”
