On the Saturday 25th June, Anna Firth MP attended the Armed Forces Day event in Southend. Anna was joined by the Mayor of Southend, Kevin Robinson, Rev Frank Smith and our incredible veterans of the British Legion.
At the event there were members of active military personnel and veterans from all four of our armed forces. The event was attended by many of the general public, being the first Armed Forces Day after the pandemic and the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War.
Anna said at the Armed Forces Day,
“I want to thank all those who have served, and continue to serve, in our armed forces. Their sacrifice keep us safe. We must never forget the sacrifices of the fallen, who allow us to have the freedoms we are fortunate to have today. The events in Ukraine highlight how lucky we in the UK are, and the enormous price that we pay for our freedom when foreign tyrants try and destroy it".
