I was delighted to be invited to speak at the CWO - Conservative Women's Organisation - National Conference on Saturday 11th May. I was on the panel for the 'Journeys in Politics and Building Resilience' seminar to talk about the ups and downs of political life.
CWO exists to encourage more women to get involved in politics, to get more women voting, standing for local government, leading local government and being elected to Westminster.
Issues and policies are important and often women will stand in local council elections because of something they've experienced or feel strongly about. Nationally, we know how important policies are in engaging voters in the run-up to an election.
I was very honoured to be able to share my own experiences and discuss how important it is to develop strong networks to support and advise you as you go along. It was also great to spend time with other women who have a passion for politics.
