On Sunday 2nd June 2024, I was absolutely delighted to attend the 33rd Charter Anniversary of The Lions Club of Leigh on Sea.
The ceremony and lunch took place at Saxon Hall in Southend and I was honoured to be invited to give the address. I praised the “huge amounts of selfless service” provided by the Lions over the two-and-a-half years during which I was their MP.
The Loyal Toast was proposed by Lion President Eileen Harris and the Response came from District Governor 105CE Lion Paul Southerton from the Hunstanton Lions Club.
The Toast to friends and guests was proposed by Lion Vice President Debs Jones and once more I was glad to make the Response.
The people of Southend West and Leigh are some of the kindest, most hard working and welcoming people in the world and the Lions are an absolute exemplar of that.
In my two-and-a-half-years as MP for Southend West & Leigh I’ve been absolutely blown away by the huge amounts of selfless service that goes on here.
