Anna Firth, MP for Southend West recently visited the brand-new Lady McAdden pop-up shop in the Royals Centre in Southend.
The shop, which opened on Sunday, has been a terrific success with local shoppers and supporters of the charity, raising an astonishing £4000 in its first days of trading.
Lady McAdden is now the only charity in the UK that offers a self-referral to a specialist nurse for Breast Awareness which can help inform women how to check, what to check for, and what to do if you find something.
The charity is completely funded by fundraising, donations, and charity shops to fight against a disease which affects 1 in 7 women, with 55,000 women being diagnosed each year.
42% of women find the changes themselves and 46% admit that they don’t check at all. Anna is calling people in Southend to check whenever they can and support the Lady McAdden pop-up shop so they can continue their hard work.
Anna said,
"I was thrilled to be able to go along and support this wonderful shop and their dedicated staff."
"I would strongly encourage everyone to head down and have a look at the fantastic range of dresses and suits they have on offer!”
Michelle de Vigne - Royals Centre Manager,
“We’re thrilled to welcome the Lady McAdden Team to the Centre. When the idea was first pitched to us two weeks ago, we were delighted to help, and it has been really pleasing to see members of the centre and our businesses pull together to support this great cause.”
