On Tuesday 12th July, Anna Firth, Member of Parliament for Southend West is hosting ‘Made in Southend’ day in Parliament. A range of local businesses are coming up from Southend to showcase their skills, products and services.
This is a chance for the local businesses to show off their new products and for Anna to listen their new ideas and ways in which MPs can help support them. ‘Made in Southend’ day is also a great opportunity for other Parliamentarians in Westminster to discover what Southend truly has to offer. The event is being held as part of the plans for Southend to become UK City of Culture for 2029.
Among the Southend businesses coming are the cocktail company ‘Tapp’d’, Rossi’s Ice Cream, Osbournes Seafood and Pigs Bay Gin. Manufacturing is being represented by companies including Olympus, whilst Southend City Council will be showcasing the city’s culture and heritage.
Ahead of the event, Anna said,
“Supporting local businesses and the high street is something I am truly passionate about. We are so lucky to have so many fantastic independent businesses in Southend, as well as a wealth of cultural attractions. I am so excited to be able to share these with my colleagues in Westminster, and really show everyone why we deserve to be UK City of Culture 2029.”
