The MP for Southend West has been championing a Leigh business, which provides training for young people with disabilities.
Speaking in Parliament, Anna Firth MP raised the difficulties that people who live with disabilities have in entering the workplace.
Mrs Firth spoke to the Secretary of State about the Leigh charity ‘The Phabulous Café’, which provides a training centre for young people with disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health issues to help them gain essential soft skills.
Answering, Mims Davies, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment praised the work of the Phabulous Café and stated that she hoped to visit the enterprise soon.
Mrs Firth said: “Helping people with disabilities into work is so important for their mental health and wellbeing. However, too many people with disabilities lack the soft skills that are needed in the work place.
“I was delighted to be able to champion the work of the ‘Phabulous Café’ – it really is fabulous!
“The charity helps people to gain skills, experience and confidence in the food industry and I am thrilled we have such a wonderful organisation in the constituency. Do go and visit them if you can.”
