On Sunday 26th June, Anna Firth MP attended the Leigh Fire Station Open Day. The Leigh firefighters put on an excellent family day, with a variety of activities for people of all ages to get involved in.
Children were able to go inside the traditional fire engines, sit in police cars and a marine fire rescue boat. There was also dowsing of a mini house with a firehose, and the opportunity to see inside an incident command unit, which helped teach the children about what the local fire services do. The fire station also offered the opportunity to get a free fire alarm installed to reduce the risk of any fires in Southend.
Anna said at the Open Day,
“I would like to thank all our local firefighters for what they do for us, and for putting on such a spectacular show! We are very lucky to have such a dedicated local team, and it is great to see so many families, especially children involved”.
