On Friday 14th October, Anna Firth MP for Southend West, attended the Southend Jobs Fair showing support to local organisations and jobseekers.
Jobs Fair are an organisation who put together events where various local employers exhibit their job opportunities.
The aim of the event was to get jobseekers into work and let them explore different fields. There were over 25 exhibitors recruiting on the day, with hundreds of jobs available. Job seekers from Southend and all over Essex spoke with recruiters about their vacancies and ultimately boosted their hopes of finding their next role.
At the event there was a huge emphasis on apprenticeship schemes, with Ipeco, a Southend based business and Southend College promoting the brilliant programmes. Anna has been incredibly supportive of apprenticeship schemes and T-Levels and has supported them throughout her time as an MP.
Anna said,
“It is brilliant Jobs Fair have put on this fantastic event which tries to get jobseekers into work. I was so happy to see so many local organisations exhibiting, and recruiting local people. I hope everyone who attended found the event useful, and I encourage jobseekers to attend their fair. I also encourage young people to look towards apprenticeship schemes and T-Levels, as they are a brilliant way to gain useful qualifications and work at the same time.”
