The Southend West MP joined the Cantare Ladies Choir for their Musical Workshop at Southend High School for Boys on the 25th of February.
Cantare was founded on the principles of being high-quality, passionate, committed and fun, the group was created back in 2010 and has now become one of the most prominent choirs for women in South Essex.
The group performs in a variety of venues, from churches to bandstands, and takes part in local and national competitions. Including the Southend Music Festival – even awarded the H. W. L. Hobbs Challenge Shield for the Premier Class for Choirs!
Joining the group, Anna exchanged her passionate debating skills from the House of Commons for hitting the high notes on Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love,’ led by the fantastic Elizabeth Dunlop.
Believing passionately in unlocking the full potential of the city’s cultural scene, Anna is calling for people to register interest for the group regardless of their skill level.
Cantare rehearses every Wednesday evening (during school term time) at Southend High School for Boys, from 7:30pm. If you are interested in joining, you should call 01702 201221.
Anna said,
“Our city is full of amazing community groups and people really making their cultural mark not only on Southend, but Essex and beyond.”
“These ladies are at the top of their game, and although I didn’t always hit the high notes, they really made me feel welcome – I encouraged anyone and everyone to sign up!”
