Anna Firth MP for Southend West cuts the ribbon on the new ‘Amess Avenue’ based in the school field at Eastwood Primary.
The Southend West MP officially opened the tribute to the late Sir David Amess last Friday. The tribute sees ten trees planted in the school field as part of a wider plan to promote education through environment by Eastwood Primary.
Donating £10,000 to fund this tribute as well as new play equipment for the children, Barbara and Jim of local company Newline Essex said “we wanted to contribute to the Queen’s Jubilee Green Canopy, whilst also honouring the fantastic Sir David who supported this project from the start.”
Following the grand opening, Anna Firth MP then took on a grilling by enthusiastic students, asking questions from how she spends her free time to whether she wants to be Prime Minister!
Speaking on the event, Anna said “It was an absolutely fantastic day. I was so pleased to see the passion and dedication of the teachers in helping their students thrive, supported by generous local business Newline, and I know Sir David would be proud”
Headteacher Rebecca Perman said that “the day was themed around legacy, and I was so pleased to see Anna engage with the children and dedicate time to inspiring their own legacy.”
Eastwood Primary School are now seeking to expand their interactive environment and give the children more play spaces to explore their imagination.
