Anna Firth MP celebrated the unsung heroes and heroines of our great new city at the 2nd Southend City Jubilee Awards ceremony on the 1st of March.
Hosted at the Civic Centre and sponsored by both the National Lottery and Southend Community Investment Board, the event was held to recognise extraordinary contributions made to the local area by individuals within the community.
25 attendees were invited to receive an award presented by the City Mayor, with Anna speaking on the importance of the city community coming together to make a brighter future for Southend.
One notable winner was the Carli Lansley Foundation, a charity which Anna has been supporting since her election.
Their aim is to raise sufficient funds to cover the cost of holding ECG screenings for young people (aged 14-35) in the Southend area. These screenings will enable 100 young people per day to receive a free ECG.
Anna said,
“This event was such a fantastic celebration of what it means to be Southend – giving back to our community, supporting the most vulnerable, and helping everyone reach their full potential.”
“I was so proud to be at the event, humbled by these amazing and deserving winners.”
